Tenure Track Professor in Biostatistics at the Institute for Medical Informatics, Statistics and Documentation
They are looking for an excellent researcher with great potential to develop an internationally renowned research agenda in the field of biostatistics.
The successful candidate is expected to conduct research and teaching in the field of biostatistics including courses in the doctoral programs within the Medical University of Graz.
Candidates for the position are expected to have substantial experience in biostatistics, particularly but not exclusively in planning and evaluating clinical trials and observational studies, systematic reviews and meta-analysis and analysis of large data sets. In addition, experience in teaching and a strong interest in collaborations within the Med Uni Graz are required.
The initial appointment is limited to six years. After the conclusion of a qualification agreement (assistant professor), the career advancement goal is to transfer to a tenured position as an associate professor (tenure track professor pursuant to § 99 para. 5 and 6 of the Universities Act). If the candidate demonstrates outstanding and remarkable achievements, the qualification agreement may be fulfilled as quickly as possible.
Core duties and responsibilities:
Conducting cutting-edge research and applied research in the field of biostatistics
Giving lectures and seminars in undergraduate and doctoral curricula
Supervising doctoral students, MSc and M.D. students as well as mentoring and promoting young researchers
Acquiring competitive third-party funding and taking the lead in such research projects
Collaborating within the research areas of the Medical University of Graz
Establishing and maintaining networks and collaborations with national and international partner institutions
Supporting scientific and public outreach in the research area (public lectures, media, etc.)
Successful candidates must have the following qualifications and skills:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in biostatistics, statistics, mathematics or another related field along with significant experience in the field of biostatistics
Excellent track record in biostatistics with publications in leading journals
Proven ability to develop, initiate and carry out interdisciplinary research projects
Experience in teaching and/or (co)supervising doctoral students and/or training post-doctoral fellows (depending on the applicant’s career stage)
International scientific visibility documented by presentations (and invitations to present) at international conferences and contributions to conference organization in the research field (depending on the applicant’s career stage)
High level of proficiency in written and spoken English (proficiency level C1)

Statutory information: The minimum remuneration is based on the collective agreement for university employees (KV § 49.2). A higher salary for this position is contingent upon qualifications and may be negotiated with the rector.
