Thomas Jaki, PhD in Statistics (2006) from the Univ. of South Caroline, M.S. in Statistics (2003) from the Johanes Kepler Univ. Professor of Statistics in the Lancaster Univ. and director of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Statistics Research Unit in Lancaster. His research areas of interest are: Design and analysis of clinical trials, Early phase drug development, Personalized medicine and Biostatistics.

Course contents
Lectures are held using Powerpoint while Labs are a mixture of SAS practicals, discussions and illustrations.
Day 1
- Lecture 1 - Introduction
- Lecture 2 - Two-stage designs for normally distributed data
- Lab 1 - Two-stage designs for clinical trials
Day 2
- Lecture 3 - Sequential designs
- Lab 2 - Group sequential designs for clinical trials
- Lecture 4 - Sample size reviews
- Lab 3 - Design issues (Discussion session)
Day 3
- Lecture 5 - Multi-arm adaptive designs
- Lab 4 - Estimation after an adaptive design
- Lecture 6 - Bias and Selection
Day 4
- Lecture 7 - Fully flexible adaptive designs
- Discussion and end
