Francesc Carmona Pontaque

He holds a degree in Mathematics and a PhD in Mathematics obtained from his work with Dr. Carles M. Cuadras the main spanish specialist in multivariate statistics. Since then he has participated in several I + D + I projects funded by Public Administrations with Dr. Cuadras as the team research leader. Some years ago he has joined the Statistics and Bioinformatics Research Group (http://eib.stat.ub.edu) leaded by Dr. Alex Sanchez where he has collaborated with biomedical researchers in several research projects in the fields of diabetes and Parkinson disease.

He has also held various positions of university management and was Dean of the Faculty of Biology, University of Barcelona.

He is an advocate of free software in education and, for years, teaches the R language.
