Hi! My name is Pavla Krotka, and I grew up in Hustopeče, a small town in the Czech Republic. I moved to Austria after finishing high school and graduated from the University of Vienna with a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics and Master’s degree in Data Science. During my undergraduate studies, I became interested in the application of statistics in medicine and started working at the Medical University of Vienna—first in statistical consulting and later in methodological research on clinical trial designs.

Currently, I am a PhD student in GRBIO, continuing my research on innovative clinical trials under the supervision of Marta Bofill Roig (UPC) and Martin Posch (Medical University of Vienna). In particular, my current work focuses on improving the efficiency of platform trials by incorporating non-concurrent controls into the analysis and developing user-friendly software implementations of the proposed methods.

Outside of research, I enjoy traveling and doing sports, with skiing, hiking, yoga, bouldering, and running being my favorites. Last but not least, my main side quest since moving to Barcelona has been learning Catalan, and I’m happy to see my progress, understanding a bit more each day.
