Hi! My name is Maria, and I was born and raised in Barcelona, in my maybe-not-so unbiased opinion, the best city in the world!

I hold Bachelor's degrees in both Mathematics and Physics from the Universitat de Barcelona. After that, I pursued a Master’s in Teaching Mathematics (Màster Universitari en Formació de Professorat - Especialitat Matemàtiques). While I really enjoyed teaching, I soon realized I missed doing science too much – so I changed direction and enrolled in the Master’s in Statistics and Operations Research at the UPC.

That’s where I discovered my passion for Biostatistics. I did my Master’s thesis under the supervision of Klaus Langohr and Guillermo Villacampa, in collaboration with the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology, where I also completed an internship. My work focused on developing and validating survival prognostic models in oncology clinical trials, and I truly enjoyed it.

Currently, I am a PhD student in GRBIO, working under the supervision of Marta Bofill Roig. My research focuses on clinical trials and survival analysis, particularly developing statistical methods for covariate adjustment and studies under informative censoring.

In my free time, I love going to music concerts and trying new things. I also enjoy running, especially by the sea, and crocheting while watching a binge-worthy TV show!
