Meet me. Pau Esteve

Pau Esteve
PhD student
Statistics and Operations Research (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya-BarcelonaTECH)
Hello! My name is Pau, and I am originally from Guardiola de Font-rubí, a small town right next to Vilafranca del Penedès, where I currently live.
My academic path started with a strong focus on the laboratory. Before university, I studied and worked in a clinical laboratory, which gave me my first hands-on experience in science. I then moved on to the University of Barcelona to study Biology. It was during my Bachelor's thesis, where I studied the growth and decline of bacterial populations, that I discovered my interest in biostatistics and modelling. Processing and analyzing the data turned out to be the most gratifying part of the work for me, so I decided to slightly change direction and study a Master’s in Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at the UOC.
Currently, I am a PhD student within the GRBIO group, conducting my research at the company BCN Peptides as an Industrial PhD. I am working under the supervision of Nuria Perez and Guadalupe Gómez (UPC), as well as Jimena Fernandez from the company. My research focuses on longitudinal data analysis and missing data, with a particular emphasis on ophthalmic data and clinical trials.
Outside of research and work, I enjoy spending my weekends outdoors. My main hobby is mountain biking, especially since my town's area has some great landscapes and tracks to ride!
